Chemical Finishing

Wool can be treated with several different chemical finishes depending on the end product and use.

Wool is treated for many reasons:

• To make it highly resistant to moths and other insects, stains, moisture and fire
• To eliminate shrinkage
• To add color

• To retain color
• To reduce static build-up
• For ultraviolet protection
• To resist mildew formation
• To allow for easier care and maintenance (washing and drying)
• To scour
• To remove color (bleaching)
