Animal Welfare Considerations

In this portion of the course, we will attempt to wrap up our studies of "practical animal management" by examining animal welfare, animal rights, health and environmental issues related to animal agriculture. On April 20, Abby Prather, one of the student teaching assistants, will discuss some of the current "issues" pertaining to animal well being, animal welfare and animal rights.   Detailed lecture notes for this will not be available on the web, so please plan on attending her presentation.  Material from this lecture and the associated resources listed below will be used in preparing questions for the final examination in this course.   The lecture period of April 27 will be devoted to a discussion of the topics presented April 20.  In addition, I would like you all to take part in a course evaluation, and I will be available to answer questions and review materials prior to the final exam.
